Service Learning

AALIM’s Service Learning Programs integrate meaningful community engagement with structured Arabic study and guided reflection. Students gain firsthand insight into social issues in Morocco while developing intercultural competence and contributing to local initiatives in Meknes.

We partner with trusted organizations—youth centers, women’s associations, educational nonprofits, and cultural organizations—to match students with placements that align with their academic interests and skill sets.

Program Highlights

  • Part-time service placements in community organizations
  • Specialized workshops on Moroccan society, development, and civic life
Guided reflection sessions linking service experiences to academic themes
  • Continued Arabic language instruction focused on communication in real contexts
  • Cultural activities, excursions, and homestay options for deeper immersion

Possible Service Focus Areas

  • Short-term winter, spring break, and summer programs
  • Departmental trips enriching coursework in the humanities and social sciences
  • Programs seeking deeper cultural immersion alongside academic study

Service learning at AALIM encourages students to engage thoughtfully, work collaboratively with Moroccan partners, and gain a deeper understanding of the cultural, social, and linguistic fabric of the region.
